{"id":350,"date":"2011-12-22T20:55:33","date_gmt":"2011-12-22T20:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/207.210.128.61\/?page_id=350"},"modified":"2025-10-02T10:41:02","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T14:41:02","slug":"using-overdrive-ebooks-with-a-nook-ereader","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/westhavenlibrary.org\/?page_id=350","title":{"rendered":"Using Overdrive eBooks with a Nook eReader"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To borrow Overdrive library eBooks for use with your Nook eReader you will need a library card in good standing, an email address, Adobe Digital Editions software authorized either anonymously or with Adobe ID, and the Overdrive Media Console software.<\/p>\n<h3>For first time use<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Follow<a title=\"Adobe Digital Editions\" href=\"http:\/\/www.overdrive.com\/partners\/redirects.asp?product=adobede\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> this link to install the Adobe Digital Editions software<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>After installation, authorize the Adobe Digital Editions software either <a href=\"http:\/\/lion.lib.overdrive.com\/71DA00F6-9AD6-4999-8C14-E22FF325B2C6\/10\/476\/en\/Help-Reader-ADE.htm#question-2526\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anonymously <\/a>or by <a href=\"http:\/\/lion.lib.overdrive.com\/71DA00F6-9AD6-4999-8C14-E22FF325B2C6\/10\/476\/en\/Help-Reader-ADE.htm#question-2527\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">creating an Adobe ID<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Follow this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.overdrive.com\/software\/omc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">link to install the Overdrive Media Console software.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Click here for <a href=\"http:\/\/lion.lib.overdrive.com\/71DA00F6-9AD6-4999-8C14-E22FF325B2C6\/10\/476\/en\/Help-Reader-ADE.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more information regarding the installation of Adobe Digital Editions and Overdrive Media Console<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>To Borrow materials<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Go to your <a href=\"http:\/\/lion.lib.overdrive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">library\u2019s website<\/a>, and click on the link to <a href=\"http:\/\/lion.lib.overdrive.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Overdrive.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Select the material you\u2019d like to take out, and make sure for a Nook eReader that the book says epub, pdf, or open epub next to it.<\/li>\n<li>Select add to cart. If it says add to wishlist, this means it\u2019s checked out to another patron.<\/li>\n<li>Once you have finished selecting books, click continue to Checkout.<\/li>\n<li>You will then be asked for your library card number.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm Checkout<\/li>\n<li>Click the download button, if prompted, choose to open file with Adobe Digital Editions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Follow this <a href=\"http:\/\/lion.lib.overdrive.com\/EFA00548-8A38-42C4-8A5A-4AE826F1ACE4\/10\/476\/en\/Help.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">link for addition information on borrowing materials<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Using Overdrive app<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Download the Overdrive app onto your Nook<\/li>\n<li>Click on my items to see your borrowed materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>OR Transfer your borrowed items to your Nook eReader Manually<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Be sure that you are able to find and open the borrowed eBook in the Adobe Digital Editions software.<\/li>\n<li>Plug your Nook eReader into your computer with the usb cable.<\/li>\n<li>Open Adobe Digital Editions, authorize Nook device when prompted.<\/li>\n<li>Find the\u00a0 items you want to transfer in your Adobe Digital Editions library.<\/li>\n<li>Drag and drop the item onto listed Nook device in left column of Adobe Digital Editions.<\/li>\n<li>Eject nook device in windows explorer before unplugging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Finding your library books on the Nook<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the MyLibrary button on bottom of the home screen<\/li>\n<li>Select My stuff at top right<\/li>\n<li>Select My Files category<\/li>\n<li>Select Digital Editions folder<\/li>\n<li>Select item to read<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>To return ebooks early<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Open the Adobe Digital Editions program on your computer<\/li>\n<li>Find the item in library of your downloaded books<\/li>\n<li>Mouse over the cover of the item, an arrow will appear upper left corner<\/li>\n<li>Click the arrow and select \u201cReturn Borrowed Item\u201d from the list of options<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westhavenlibrary.org\/images\/WHPLNookoverdriveposter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/westhavenlibrary.org\/images\/WHPLNookoverdriveposter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download our print formatted Nook instructions as a PDF.<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"print-page-link\" style=\"margin: 10px 0px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/westhavenlibrary.org\/?page_id=350&amp;print=1\">Print <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To borrow Overdrive library eBooks for use with your Nook eReader you will need a library card in good standing, an email address, Adobe Digital Editions software authorized either anonymously or with Adobe ID, and the Overdrive Media Console software.
