In the wilderness of Quebec, A small group of cloistered monks release a sound recording of Gregorian chants that enthrall the world. Their quiet existance was previously unknown to any outsider, surprising even the Roman Catholic Church who lost communication with the Order centuries ago. Chief Inspecter Gamache of the Surete du Quebec was assigned to investigate the murder of the choir master. Well crafted characters and vividly described surroundings draw the reader deep into this investigation.
Dani, Children’s Assistant (LP)–
My Staff Pick is The Princess’s Bride by KT Grant. The story follows the Princess Daisy and the life of privilege that she leads. A life that 
she is not sure she wants but knows nothing else. She falls in love with Chelsey the daughter of her houses cook. Over the summer they have a passionate love affair until they are caught in each other’s arms by Daisy’s father. They are torn apart from each other and promise to once again reunite in the future. But life has a different plan for Daisy and Chelsey. Daisy waits for Chelsey to come back but she never does. She resigns herself to the life her father had intended for her and accepts to become the wife of successful business man, Lord Humphrey. On the night of the ball where Lord Humphrey was to announce his engagement to Daisy she is kidnapped by the dimwitted pirate twins, Judie and Jimmy only to be rekidnapped by the lady pirate C.W. Dread and her first mate, Mr. Martin. She awakes to find herself in a strange bedroom aboard a ship unsure as to what will become of her and if she will ever return home. Once she meets the Captain of the Lady Desire she feels that her life is definitely about to change at that moment. The adventure and danger that follows is more than she could have imagined not at all like the books she was accustomed to reading under the shade of a tree. This is a book full of revenge, passion, danger, and above all that in the end love conquers all.
Kymberlee, Children’s Assistant (Main)–
Thirteen is the final, and thirteenth, book in the Women of the Otherworld series written by Kelley Armstrong. In this final book, the 
Otherworld, filled with vampires, werewolves, witches, half-demons, and more, is on the verge of disaster and war. There are those who defend that the existence of supernaturals should be revealed to the human world, while others fight to defend their secret.
I loved the book. The book has a hefty amount of characters and at time the narration switches from one character to another, but the author does a great job of clarifying for the readers. The characters are so well developed that’s it’s easy to keep everyone straight, she also revived a few character from previous books in the series. This book has been a long time coming for those of us who’ve avidly followed the series over the last eight years, the author did a great job of closing all loop holes and bringing the story to a nice solid end.
Colleen, Technical Services (Main)–
Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is a psychological murder mystery that makes you want to hate the title character Nick. But you just can’t. When his wife goes missing on their fifth anniversary, all signs point to Nick being the culprit. Their marriage has gone horribly wrong. Amy’s crazy alpha-girl tendency diary entries show you one side of their marriage, and Nick’s daydream flashbacks another. Nick tries to maintain his innocence through it all despite ever increasing media scrutiny and a flip-flopping public. It’s a truly gripping, fun mystery that I can truly see why so many people are looking to read. And I highly recommend. The ending is fantastic.

A practical g
uide to Linux commands, editors, and shell programming by Mark G. Sobell provides an accessible and thorough introduction to the command line interface, a powerful and integral part of Linux and Unix-like operating systems. Sobell gives a brief history of the command line interface, giving context to current implementations, before exploring a sampling of commonly used commands. The effort to be inclusive of a variety of Unix-based systems is a big advantage over other similar books. No matter what Linux distribution you choose, Sobell provides applicable information and instruction, specifically discussing where operations differ based on the choice of system. More specialized and advanced topics, such as shell programming and text editors, are introduced later in the book.
A practical guide to Linux commands, editors, and shell programming provides a great introduction to using the powerful and too often underused command interface found in Linux and Unix-based operating systems. The clear language, thoughtful layout, and coverage of Mac OSX in addition to the major Linux distributions, makes this a great resource for those looking to get started with Linux in general and command line programming in particular. The coverage of text editors and programming tools ensure that this volume will remain a useful reference over time.
